Soccer heads to Davis, home for Irvine

Long Beach State women’s soccer team will try to continue its six-match unbeaten streak (5-0-1) when it travels to face UC Davis Friday and hosts UC Irvine Sunday.

The 49ers (12-2-1, 3-0-1 Big West) currently hold their highest ranking ever being ranked No. 20 by Soccer America magazine. LBSU is ranked No. 30 by SoccerBuzz.com.

UC Davis (7-4-2), which will become a member of the Big West in 2007, is currently on a five-match winless streak (0-3-2). Dayna Dumont leads the Aggies in goals with four.

UC Irvine (3-10-1, 0-4-0 Big West) is also struggling, with a record of 1-5-1 in its last seven.

The Anteaters have scored only six goals this season and scoring against LBSU will be a challenge considering the 49ers have only yielded six goals.

This week, UCI head coach April Henrichs was named one of the top NCAA soccer players over the last 20 years.
