The Beach looks for weekend sweep

Before going on a six-game road trip, the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team will try to break into the CSTV top-25 as it hosts a two-match weekend against UC Davis and Pacific.

The team play of The Beach has not just resulted in a respectable record (12-4, 3-1), but has also put the team atop the Big West stats.

In the Big West, The Beach ranks first in hitting percentage (.233), second in assists (14.29 per game), second in blocks (2.97 per game) and kills per game with 15.62. The Beach also leads the conference in digs with 16.23 per game.

Adding to that stat is Alexis Crimes, who leads the team with 3.29 kills per game and 1.40 blocks per game.

After six days of rest, the Aggies will try to win their first match against LBSU.

Chantal Paschetta leads the Aggies in kills per game (3.41) but also leads the team in errors with 137 for the season.

In the second match of the weekend, The Beach will take the hardwood against a lowly Tiger team that has fell victim to The Beach in 9 of the last 10 meetings since 2001. The Tigers are headlined by Johanna Hilbers, who is second on the team with 3.17 kills per game while posting a .250 attack percentage.
