‘Heroes’ brings to prime time TV super heroes

“Heroes,” the new science fiction series on NBC on Mondays at 9 p.m., made its big debut Sept. 25.

The story follows everyday people who find themselves with special talents. For example, Issac Mendez, who plays Santiago Carera, is a drug addict/artist who paints the future events and is unable to deal with it.

One of the best things about “Heroes” is the variety of ethnic groups represented. The actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, an Indian-American, is a scientist who is very close to discovering those with special gifts and will most likely be the one to answer the questions that these characters have in the near future. The show not only deals with middle-class Americans, but people from all walks of life.

For example, Niki Sanders, played by Ali Larter, works as a stripper to help put her child through school and believes that her alter ego is up to no good.

There is also a Japanese businessman named Hiro Nakamura, played by Masi Oka, who believes he can travel through time by just thinking about it. He also believes he has been given these powers to do good in the world.

What I also really like about this show is that all the characters have real problems and flaws, which make each person more believable and easier to relate to.

For example, the character Claire Bennet, played by Hayden Panettier, is a cheerleader who finds that she is indestructible and an unhappy camper. She feels as though her world has been turned upside down and will undoubtedly never be the same again.

The world will never be the same for many of the characters, especially when the enemy makes its appearance. The enemy is played by Big Brother, who unquestionably wants to use those with special abilities for their own use. This promises to make the story even more interesting. It will also be interesting to see how the world will react to these characters who have special gifts and whether or not the world will accept them.

It is very much an updated “X-Men,” but instead of these characters being born with their abilities, they have instead evolved to these powers. If you love a good mystery with some science fiction thrown into mix, then I am sure you will enjoy the new show “Heroes.”
