Daily 49er article is negative about students
The article that appeared in the May 1 issue of the Daily 49er, “Shuttle situation needs to be clear for students” presents a stereotyped view of students as smelly and “bleary-eyed” who “go to class hungover” and who “sit behind you in … class texting the entire time.”
I respect my students and, in spite of the negative opinion expressed in yesterday’s edition of the Daily 49er, I will continue to have a high opinion of them.
I do find it strange, however, that the negative opinion of students in yesterday’s paper was written by students, while a positive opinion of students had to be expressed by a faculty member.
