The innovative, yet different, development of food trucks have most definitely changed the face of eating, making it a more mobile, yet hip past time. This newfound craze has taken food lovers by storm creating a new phenomenon. Yes, this is as it sounds, food being cooked and served from a truck, which sounds particularly disgusting at first, but I can honestly say that I have jumped onto the food truck bandwagon, promoting their business and trying to aid their popularity. This, after all, is crucial information for us food-deprived students
The concept, which incorporates the truck’s highly eclectic and fine cuisine with a social and interactive environment, make the experience something much more entertaining than your typical “sit down” restaurant ordeal.
About six trucks gather at a time in locations such as Los Alamitos, Irvine and Los Angeles, and usually at locations that offer enough space for all of the trucks to park and for the people to alternate back and forth between the various food types.
The ambiance is a communal one as people bring portable tables, camping chairs, blankets and sometimes a bottle of wine to accompany them and their friends and family in their truck dining. Just as people develop favorite restaurants, there is no doubt that people will become avid food truck followers, which will only heighten the fad. The trucks, which lack the luxury of having a consistent location, have broadened the realm of eating in another manner, giving social media a huge part in their experience. In order to keep track of these constantly moving bounty of deliciousness, it is almost second nature to send a Facebook friend request or follow your favorites on Twitter so you can make sure you know where to find the various trucks.
Despite the unconventional manner of these trucks, be prepared for top-notch cuisine. Don’t expect just any ordinary meal when visiting these trucks that offer signature items such as ahi tuna sliders, out of this world carne asada tacos, lobster rolls and sweet potato fries.
Besides offering amazing food for reasonable prices, the idea of food trucks have been more influential in the fact that they have essentially developed a new “genre” of eating. Just as society has experienced various developments in the food realm such as diners and fast food joints, the rapidly increasing popularity of food trucks have given them a likelihood of securing a spot in this “food totem pole,” producing more and more current options. It is much easier than expected to become an avid fan of this new addicting form of eating, and there is no reason not to jump on the “food truck train.”
Every week, trucks gather in Los Alamitos. Information can be found through various online generators such as The OC Register or LookingForFoodTrucks.com.
