Music professor’s secured office robbed

Professor has electronic equipment stolen

A professor had electronic equipment stolen from a secured office in the Music Center between March 24 at 12 p.m. and April 5 at 9:30 a.m., University Police Capt. Fernando Solorzano said.

The equipment, which included a Samsung digital camera, extra Samsung battery, camera bag, external hard drive, hard drive holder, Olympus audio recorder and a memory card, had a total value of $672.

 

Faculty member has laptop stolen

A faculty member had a silver MacBook Pro laptop stolen from an office in the Fine Arts 2 building, on April 18 between 3:35-3:45 p.m., Solorzano said.

The faculty member left the office to use the restroom and kept the door slightly open. When the faculty member returned 10 minutes later, the laptop was gone. The laptop was personal property and had an estimated value of $1,500.

 

Property stolen out of vehicle

A woman had a purse stolen from her vehicle on April 19 between 1:30-2:15 p.m. on the west side of Parking Lot 16, Solorzano said.

The woman was walking through the Japanese Garden on campus and, when she returned to her vehicle, her purse was gone. Her purse included $400 in cash and a Nokia cellphone. The total estimated loss of value was $670.

 

Man caught selling marijuana

An 18-year-old man was caught in possession of and trying to sell marijuana on April 20 at 2:31 p.m. in Parking Lot 14D, Solorzano said.

The man, who is not a student at Cal State Long Beach, was seen driving a 2001 black Chrysler PT Cruiser through the parking lot while trying to approach students to buy marijuana. University Police saw the man making a transaction with another person via surveillance cameras before arriving on scene. When police confronted the man, he admitted to being in possession of and trying to sell marijuana.

 

Staff member has cell phone stolen

A university staff member had a HTC EVO model cellphone stolen from Parking Structure 1 on April 20 between 4-5 p.m., Solorzano said.

The staff member left his or her cellphone in the parking office located in Parking Structure 1 when he or she went to assist a student. When the staff member returned, the cellphone was gone. The estimated loss is $400.

 

Woman has her vehicle keyed

A woman had her 2007 black Saturn coupe keyed in Parking Lot 14A on April 21 between 10:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., Solorzano said.

When the woman returned to her vehicle, she noticed a three-foot long scratch along the passenger side door.
