Woman causes disturbance during anti-abortion presentation

A woman was cited for vandalizing an anti-abortion presentation near the Speaker’s Platform on April 13 at 2:30 p.m., University Police Lt. Scot Willey said.

The woman was walking through the presentation when she started yelling and destroying signs and images, Willey said. Police later found the woman and she admitted to the actions. The woman was cited after signing a statement written by the owners of the anti-abortion presentation describing what she did.

 

Two computers gone missing

Two computers were taken from on campus two weeks ago, Willey said.

A woman’s laptop was stolen from the University Theater on April 4 between 3:15-4:45 p.m., Willey said. The woman said she left the University Theater on a shuttle bus before realizing she forgot her laptop. When she returned back to the room, her laptop was gone. Its estimated value is $400.

A professor had a Dell computer monitor, mouse and keyboard stolen from an office in the Physical Education building between April 8 at 1 p.m. and April 11 at noon, Willey said. The professor left the office locked and upon returning, discovered that the items were missing.

 

Professors report student harassing them via email

Two professors received annoying and harassing emails from the same student, Willey said. Both professors reported that they received emails from April 7-9, Willey said. As the emails continued they became more suspicious, and both professors began to be concerned for their safety. 

 

Beach cruisers stolen on campus

Two bikes were stolen last week, Willey said.

A woman had her blue beach cruiser bike stolen from Parking Lot 14D on April 11 at 11:40 p.m., Willey said. 

The woman’s friend saw the bike theft in progress and reported seeing two Hispanic males in their late 20s cutting the cable lock and stealing the bike. The woman’s friend called her to tell her that the bike had been taken. The estimated value of the bike was $120. 

Another beach cruiser was stolen on April 14 at 2:30 p.m. from the north side of the Parkside Commons, Building G, Willey said. When the owner returned to retrieve the bike, it was missing. The estimated value of the bike was $300.

 

Back seat stolen out of car

A bench seat out of a white 2007 Chevy Tahoe was stolen from Parking Lot 18 on April 15, between 10 a.m.-1:20 p.m., Willey said. When the owner returned to the car, the keyhole on the driver’s side door was broken, and the bench seat was gone. 

According to Willey, bench seats have been frequently stolen from Chevy Tahoes because they have a resale value of up to $1,000.
