A breakup turned into a 911 call when a female student’s ex-boyfriend went looking for her on campus on Nov. 28, University Police Capt. Fernando Solorzano said.
He was reportedly unwilling to end the relationship and wanted to find her to patch things up. However, the female student did not want to romantically reconnect with her ex-boyfriend and contacted University Police when she felt physically threatened by him. When police arrived at his reported location, he had already left the premises.
An emergency protection order, similar to a restraining order, was issued, requiring him to stay away from her.
The case remains under investigation by University Police.
Filipino credit card charge leads to identity theft
A $999 credit card charge from the Philippines prompted a Cal State Long Beach staff member to report fraudulent use of their card to University Police on Nov. 24, Solorzano said.
Solorzano added that this appears to be a clear case of identity theft. However, there is no information on the suspect. The case is under further investigation by University Police.
Mother escorts drunken son off steps
An intoxicated man sitting on the steps of the Walter Pyramid was asked to leave campus by University Police on Nov. 26, Solorzano said.
Police approached the 23-year-old Rolando Rodriguez when they noticed his state of public intoxication. Although he wasn’t cited, he was taken into police custody until his mother arrived to transport him off-campus. Rodriguez is unrelated to the university.
